4 Walking Festivals for the May Bank Holiday Weekend
The first of the Summer Bank Holiday Weekends is nearly upon us. And we have four fantastic walking festivals to tempt you to lace up your walking boots.
The Slieve Bloom Walking Festival
For those unfamiliar with the Slieve Bloom Mountains, the May Bank Holiday is a perfect time to discover the one of the least explored areas in Ireland. It is picturesque and peaceful, yet only an hour and a bit from Dublin and Limerick and two hours from Cork and Galway. The walks are in remote wilderness areas of the Slieve Blooms, only accessible on foot. And rarely frequented by hill walkers. Find out more here.
Ballyhoura Walking Festival
Situated in the beautiful Munster Vales, Ballyhoura has become synonymous with outdoor pursuits. The Festival features a packed programme of walks for all abilities. From the enthusiastic well-equipped walker, to the gentle ramblers who are out to enjoy pleasant guided walks in the company of local experts in the fields of heritage, archaeology, history, flora and fauna, there is something for everyone.
